1038 7th Ave
Marion, IA
Description
Bill's Drinking Establishment - Want to throw a huge party with 300 of your closest friends? Bill's Drinking Establishment is probably not the place to do it. But if you're interested in grabbing a quick drink and possibly some bar food, Bill's Drinking Establishment is more than able to oblige.

Horseless Carriage Lounge
(319) 377-2915
1899 7th Ave
Marion, IA
Description
Horseless Carriage Lounge - Of the city's hundreds and hundreds of bars, Horseless Carriage Lounge fits right in the middle of the bell curve - a place to hit with your buddies on the way to your ultimate destination. Not the ideal spot for fabulous, drunken debauchery, but it's a good as place as any to pre-drink.

Green Gable Inn
(319) 366-4640
1227 J Ave NE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Description
Green Gable Inn - Twenty dollar cover? Nope. Celebrities? None. Green Gable Inn is nowhere near the pages of Us Weekly or TMZ, but hey, beer is beer, whiskey is whiskey. A friendly neighborhood bar where you can pretty much wear whatever the hell you want. (But leave the cargo-shorts at home.)

Deanoz
(319) 364-9706
3331 1st Ave SE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Description
Deanoz, located at [Address], is your garden variety pub. It's not going to win any raves of "Hottest. Bar. Ever.," but it's a serviceable place to relax and unwind. Just keep your expectations grounded. And there's something to be said for beers that cost less than $14 bucks. Review of Deanoz.

Club Basix
(319) 363-3194
3916 1st Ave NE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Description
Club Basix - Here's the problem with most bars: the vibe sometimes dies around 1am. Luckily for you, when most bars are sweeping up the floors and closing shop, Club Basix kicks it into another gear. The place usually keeps it going 'til way late-guaranteeing a late and out-of-control night.

KATS Lounge
(319) 373-2747
740 10th St
Marion, IA
Description
Kats Lounge - It has it all: a swank atmosphere, attractive crowd, and cheap drinks. Okay, okay, so maybe it doesn't have cheap drinks, but Kats Lounge is still a solid lounge. Not really a dance club, per se, but perfect more a more upscale option.

Alibi
(319) 447-0455
620 Lindale Dr # 1
Marion, IA
Description
Alibi - In need of a quick drink without the hassle of a doorman? Alibi will do the trick. Grab a seat at the welcoming bar and order one of the many brews on hand. The bartender will likely hook you up if you become a regular and then you'll really have your very own place where everyone knows your name.

Break Room
(319) 363-9140
3108 1st Ave NE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Description
Break Room - Maybe you'll see Norm in the corner. Or Cliff sitting next to him. Maybe Sam behind the bar. Yep, Break Room is that comfortable, cozy neighborhood bar - the kind where the bartender seems to know everyone who walks through the door.

Coopacabana
(319) 364-9777
529 4th Ave SE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Description
Coopacabana - There's not much to be said about the cocktails at [name]. They're not necessarily cheap, but they're as tasty as they are potent...a delicious and dangerous combination.

Cedar Brewing Co
(319) 378-9090
500 Blairs Ferry Rd NE
Cedar Rapids, IA
Description
Cedar Brewing Co - If you need a place to unwind after another week of mindless TPS reports, Cedar Brewing Co, located at [Address], might just do the trick. Pretty barebones and without fanfare, but the prices are reasonable and there's no hassle at the door.

Essential Bartending Equipment

By Russ Cobbe

Setting up your own home bar can be great fun when you have people over. It isn't overly expensive to get all the essentials. So what are the tools of the trade you'll need to show off to your guests?

Blender - If you don't already have one, get a good one that has good speed and power. Nothing is more annoying than waiting 5 minutes to crush up some ice or blend a drink.

Ice Bucket and Tongs - This is mainly used for easy access, don't get one too big that all the ice melts before you use it but don't get something so small that you have to keep refilling it either.

Combo Corkscrew/Bottle Opener - Obviously needed to open that fine wine or bottles of beer that don't have twist tops.

Paring Knife/Cutting Board - Used to cut up lemons and limes for garnishing along with other fruits in certain drinks.

Shaker - Used for mixing various drinks.

Measure - There is a special device that looks like two triangles on top of each other at the apexes but a lot of people use a shot glass these days.

Bar Strainer - Used in a lot of cocktail recipes to stain out ice that might have been used to cool ingredients in a recipe. It looks like a little paddle with lots of round rings on the end.

Lemon/Lime Squeezer - This has a flat collector base with a raised pointed section in the middle with ridges. Its used to squeeze out fresh lemon or lime juice.

There are over 20 different styles of glasses from brandy to wine. Did y...
